Purpose
Density Altitude is measurement of atmospheric conditions that directly and severely affect aircraft performance including engine performance. Many accidents have occured because the density altitude was unfortunately unknown/overlooked at time of take off. This product makes it easy and convienent for the pilot to determine the density altitude thus contributing to better decision making.
he AWRX 1.4.5 Density Altitude indicator is intended to provide an automatic calculation and indication of the density altitude in the immediate environment of the device. The device is not intended as a substitute to the normal pilot’s pre-flight procedures. This device shall render a reasonably accurate indication prior to commencement of pre-flight procedures. A typical example would be to determine the atmospheric conditions prior to arrival at an airfield, forewarned is forearmed.
The AWRX 1.4.5 can also be used a hand held barometer or altimeter.
The 5 Functions
1: Abs Pressure Hpa Absolute(raw) barometric pressure in Hpa
2: Temp C Device temperature in degrees celsius
3: Approx Altitude Calculated altitude above sea level
4: Pressure Altitude Indicated altitude with QNH = 1013mb
5: Density Altitude Density altitude can be considered to
be the pressure altitude adjusted for non-standard
temperature . This directly affects aircraft
performance and must be considered in aircraft
operation
Warnings
NOTE : This device is not a certified instrument and all data supplied must be considered as approximate values only. The user undertakes to use this device at his own discretion and 24 Degrees Electronics shall not be held liable for any action taken based upon the data supplied.
NOTE: Device temperature is critical to the density altitude calculation. Direct sunlight, motor vehicles or aircraft in direct sunlight will elevate the device temperature. The device kept in the operators pocket may also elevate the device temperature.
An elevated device temperature will result in an elevated density altitude.
